DIY Bag Patterns and Handbags
Our sister site is now open for business! Wholesale Purse Patterns is now fully functional and accepting order for businesses such as crafting stores, fabric stores, and quilting shops! The minimum order is only 10 patterns of any variety (perfect for that handbag class you want to teach in your store!) and shipping is free in the USA with an order of $100.00 or more. Wholesale Purse Patterns only sells to businesses, so let your local quilt shop know that you want them to add bag patterns!

I want this to be a true interactive community about purse patterns that you have made, new pattern designers you have discovered, or just to showcase your own creations! All handbag lovers are welcome to join and give us your opinions!

Here is a handy tutorial on a new way to close a purse that you make from Patty Dunn of All Dunn Designs:
This is an example of a purse pattern (reversible) using the "Clicker" closure method -
You can use a retractable metal tape measure as a closure for your purse! Pull out the full length of the tape and cut. Measure the width of the top of your bag without seams and cut the appropriate length - be sure to round off the edges as this could eventually cut through your fabric.
Cover the cut metal tape measure with duct tape. Make a casing to hold the tape including the seam allowances. Stitch this casing to the wrong side of the purse and see only one side to the seam. Insert your tape measure and then sew up the remaining open side of the casing - you now have a "clicker" purse closing!
All Dunn Designs are available from Henrietta's Handbags

Henrietta, I do love to sew and I've always wanted to try making a handbag. Your Henrietta's Handbags & Purse Patterns (http://www.henriettashandbags.com/) is a FABULOUS website and a great place for me to start. I got interested in creating purses while bookstore shopping with my Mom one day. I found some of the cutest books about making purses and wanted to try it. I had to buy them and then I had to write about them on my "The Book Review Corner" blog (http://thebookreviewcorner.blogspot.com/). I really do want to try my hand at purse making. My problem is finding the time.
Thanks, Henrietta, for mentioning my "The Best FREE Craft Articles" blog. Some of Henrietta's FREE purse patterns are posted there. I may just have to try my hand at a simple tote first. So, I'll probably try Henrietta's Tote Bag pattern and go from there. If you haven't visited Henrietta's "Henrietta's Handbags & Purse Patterns" website (http://www.henriettashandbags.com/) you're really missing a treat. It's FABULOUS. When I finally get a chance to try my hand at purse making I'll be sure to post about it over here on http://DIYhandbags.wetpaint.com . Linda |
